Job summary

Telstra is seeking a Senior Portfolio Economics Specialist to join Telstra Digital Infrastructure in Melbourne. You will partner with Finance, Product and Commercial teams to build and maintain robust models of product and asset performance, turning data into practical insights to guide investment decisions and improve returns.

You will develop reports and dashboards that are clear, consistent with Finance, and easy for senior leaders to act on.

Qualifications

• Finance, economics, or data analytics background required.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Ability to turn large data sets into practical recommendations.
• Clear communication to technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Commercial mindset and problem-solving focus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain models that show how our products and assets perform, including revenue, costs, usage and returns.
• Turn data into clear insights, explaining the trends and patterns and recommending options for senior leaders.
• Support investment decisions by testing "what if" scenarios and helping prepare business cases.
• Produce regular reports and dashboards that are accurate, easy to follow and consistent with Finance.
• Document your work and find ways to improve and automate it, so our analysis is reliable and repeatable.

What You’ll Do

About You

• Experience in finance, economics, commercial analysis, strategy or data analytics.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, and experience building business cases or investment analysis is highly desirable.
• Confidence working with large sets of data and turning them into practical recommendations.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain numbers simply to technical and non-technical colleagues.
• A curious, commercial mindset and a genuine interest in solving business problems.
• A degree in commerce, economics, finance, data analytics, engineering, mathematics, statistics or equivalent experience.
