Alfred Health invites applications for a Senior Physiotherapist (Respiratory - Rotational) based at The Alfred. You will join a large physiotherapy department delivering acute and subacute services across multiple streams, including respiratory care, critical care and rehabilitation.

The role involves ongoing development, supervision of junior staff and student education, with rotations across Lung Transplant, Cystic Fibrosis and General Respiratory services.

The Department

The Alfred Care Group Physiotherapy Department has more than 100 EFT and employs over 170 staff. The physiotherapy service has a proud history of clinical and academic excellence. Itremainsstrongly committed to further pursuing excellence in physiotherapy through clinical research.

Alfred Care Group’s Physiotherapy Department provides acute physiotherapy services to the patients of The Alfred and Sandringham Hospital and subacute physiotherapy services to Caulfield Hospital. The acute physiotherapy service is organised into five functional streams, namely: Intensive Care, Musculoskeletal, Respiratory, PAN (Progressive Illness, Aged Care and Neurosciences), and Sandringham. The first four streams are located at The Alfred site, with the latter being based at the Sandringham site. The physiotherapy service provides acute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: intensive care, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, trauma, burns, lung transplantation, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation, neurology and neurosurgery, infectious diseases, haematology/oncology, general medicine, haemophilia and emergency.

The physiotherapy service at Caulfield Hospital provides an extensive range of inpatient and ambulatory services in the areas of rehabilitation, health of older person and residential care services. The department provides subacute clinical services and expertise in the following areas: neurology, non-traumatic spinal cord injury, orthopaedics, amputees, burns, complex regional pain, cardiac rehabilitation, aged care (Health of Older Person), transitional care and aged psychiatry. The subacute physiotherapy service is organised into four functional streams: Neurological Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Health of Older Persons (HOP) and ABI.

The Role

The Grade 2 physiotherapist (Respiratory – Rotational) position is one of 3 Grade 2 Respiratory Rotational positions at The Alfred. The three rotations include Lung Transplant (RES 1), Cystic Fibrosis (RES 2) and General Respiratory (RES 3 & RES 4).The Grade 2 physiotherapist (Respiratory – Rotational) is responsible for the ongoing development and provision of physiotherapy services to the units, and programs assigned to the senior physiotherapist, which is dependent upon the specific rotation, in consultation with senior clinician(s) physiotherapists and relevant physiotherapy stream leader. The Grade 2 physiotherapist (Respiratory – Rotational) is also responsible for the education of physiotherapy students and the supervision and professional development of Grade 1 staff assigned to their units. The Grade 2 physiotherapist (Respiratory – Rotational) has an important role contributing to the development of individuals, the clinical team and the physiotherapy service through good leadership, teamwork and communication.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Registered to practice in the state of Victoria via AHPRA
• Responsible for the delivery of physiotherapy services to the designated units in consultation with a senior physiotherapist.
