Job summary

Northern Health is seeking a Senior Pharmacist - Virtual Care & Innovation to lead the implementation and management of virtual care within the Pharmacy Department. The role also drives digital health initiatives and optimises health information systems to support safe, efficient care.

Based in our Pharmacy Department, you will lead a clinical team, oversee services to Virtual Health, and collaborate across specialties to advance practice and improve patient outcomes in a modern hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Experienced pharmacist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in service improvement and interdisciplinary practice.
• Experience leveraging digital health technologies, health information systems and data to drive innovation.

Responsibilities

Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Senior Pharmacist - Virtual Care & Innovation to join the Pharmacy Department in a fixed term, part-time position.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.

Services Are Provided Through Our Six Main Campuses

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

The Pharmacy Department operates across six campuses and has a strong vision to deliver exceptional, evidenced-based care to our patients - with a clear focus on research, medication safety and clinical excellence.

The department comprises over 140 pharmacists and 30 technicians to provide clinical, operational, quality and informatics services with a strong focus on workforce culture and commitment to professional development.

About The Role

The Senior Pharmacist - Virtual Care & Innovation has the responsibility for implementation and management of virtual care for the Pharmacy Department and facilitate digital innovation through the implementation and optimisation of health information and medication management systems.

The role has responsibility for the organisation, implementation and supervision of pharmacy services to the Division of Virtual Health (including Virtual Emergency Department (VED) and Virtual Specialist Consults (VSC). They will provide leadership to a clinical pharmacy team in ensuring excellence in patient care.

The Virtual Emergency Department (VED) provides care for urgent but non-life‑threatening health concerns. VED is operated by Northern Health and supported by the Victorian Government. Virtual Specialist Consults (VSC) supports general practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals and other primary care providers across the state of Victoria by providing timely access to specialist expertise. VSC aims to support the management of complex patients in the community, strengthen continuity of care, and ease pressure on outpatients departments across Victoria.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

• Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
• Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
• Experienced pharmacist with highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills
• Possesses skills and experience in service improvement and understanding of interdisciplinary practice
• Demonstrated kills and experience in leveraging digital health technologies, health information systems and data to drive innovation and support efficient models of care
