What you'll be doing

The purpose of this position is to support the management of the Medication Safety Program across Westmead Hospital, with responsibilities to:

  • Provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to the wards/units in Westmead Hospital. This includes the provision of training, supervision, guidance and mentorship to support the clinical pharmacists.
  • Support the Westmead Hospital Safe Use of Medicines (SUM) & Standard 4 Committee to improve the quality and safe use of medicines and participate in the development and implementation of evidence-based quality improvement initiatives that can be monitored against national accreditation standards.
  • Lead the development and review of drug-related documents to enhance medication safety and patient outcomes.

Essential Criteria
  • Qualifications: Pharmacy qualifications conferred by tertiary education institutions e.g. Bachelor of Pharmacy. Must satisfy Grade 3 classification as per Health Employees Pharmacists (State) Award.
  • Registration: Full and unrestricted Pharmacist Registration with AHPRA.
Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated advanced communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. Demonstrated excellent written skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical hospital pharmacy practice or equivalent extensive clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent therapeutic knowledge and ability to exercise a high level of initiative in the application of pharmaceutical principles to clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of self‑motivation and ability to effect practice change.
  • Demonstrated skills in information technology: using computer applications including dispensing, database management, developing and analysis of reports, accessing medicine information, spreadsheet, and word processing programs.
