Job summary

Westgold Group is seeking a Senior People Advisor to join our site-based People team on an 8/6 FIFO roster. This hands-on generalist role partners with site leaders, delivering high-quality HR and ER/IR advice across the employee lifecycle in our mining environment.

You will report to the Superintendent People, work with senior stakeholders, support remuneration reviews, and help maintain workforce wellbeing and performance in a safety‑focused organisation.

Qualifications

  • Degree in HR, Employment Relations, or related field.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in HR/People Advisor, mining sector preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and IR best practice.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and coaching abilities.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the business.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Intermediate MS Office and exposure to HR systems.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end generalist HR advice across performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, and coaching.
  • Manage employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, and outcomes.
  • Advise on awards, industrial agreements, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Support remuneration and salary review processes.
  • Coach leaders to take accountability for people decisions and build engaged teams.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Support injury management, return‑to‑work, and fitness‑for‑work processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the People function.
  • Build strong relationships with Site Leadership Teams.

Senior People Advisor – 8/6 FIFO Roster

About the role

We are looking for a Senior People Advisor to join our site-based People team on an 8/6 FIFO roster. In this hands‑on generalist role you will partner closely with site leaders, providing trusted HR and ER/IR advice in a dynamic operational environment. Reporting to the Superintendent People, you will act as the primary People contact for your allocated portfolio, delivering high‑quality advisory support across the employee lifecycle and ensuring best‑practice people management aligned with operational and corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing end‑to‑end generalist HR advice across performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, and coaching.
  • Managing employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary processes, and outcomes.
  • Advising on awards, industrial agreements, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Supporting and delivering cyclical HR activities such as remuneration and salary reviews.
  • Coaching leaders to take accountability for people decisions and build strong, engaged teams.
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Supporting injury management, return‑to‑work, and fitness‑for‑work processes.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the People function.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Site Leadership Teams.
Qualifications
  • A degree qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Business, or similar (or demonstrated experience in lieu).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in an HR or People Advisor role, ideally within the mining or resources sector.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, industrial relations, and HR best practice.
  • Exceptional communication, influencing, and coaching skills.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills and exposure to HR systems.
  • A current C Class Driver’s Licence.
