Job summary

Squadron Energy is seeking a Senior Optimisation Engineer to lead asset performance improvement across our renewable portfolio. You will analyse operational data, develop business cases and dashboards, and partner with Operations, Engineering and OEMs to translate insights into measurable value.

The role requires 8–10 years in power/renewables, hands-on AVEVA PI/Clir experience, a degree in Engineering, and the ability to drive reliability, energy yield and availability while delivering

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years’ experience in power generation, renewables, or related industrial operations.
  • Experience in optimisation engineering and asset performance management.
  • Experience using operator data historians and asset performance platforms like AVEVA PI/Clir.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA and plant performance.
  • Experience preparing business cases and investment proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead asset performance improvement and optimisation initiatives across Squadron Energy’s operating portfolio.
  • Analyse operational and engineering data to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, recommendations and implementation plans to support decisions.

Squadron Energy is looking for a Senior Optimisation Engineer to join our Operations – Engineering and Optimisation team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Operations, this role will lead asset performance improvement initiatives across our operating portfolio, using engineering expertise, operational data and asset performance systems to improve reliability, availability, energy yield and operational efficiency.

You will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Market Operations, OT/IT, OEMs and external service providers to identify performance improvement opportunities, investigate issues and turn insights into practical, measurable business outcomes.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead asset performance improvement and optimisation initiatives across Squadron Energy’s operating portfolio.
  • Analyse operational and engineering data to identify trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, recommendations and implementation plans to support operational and strategic decisions.
  • Act as a power user and subject matter expert for operational data and asset performance platforms, including AVEVA PI and Clir.
  • Develop dashboards, monitoring frameworks and performance insights to support decision-making and value realisation.
  • Support contractual availability reviews and provide technical assessments to help manage OEM and service provider performance.
  • Track and report benefits from optimisation initiatives and support continuous improvement across the Engineering team.
About you:

You are a senior engineering professional with strong analytical capability, commercial judgement and experience delivering performance improvement outcomes in complex operational environments.

You will bring:
  • 8–10 years’ experience in power generation, renewable energy, utilities, oil and gas, industrial operations or a related industry.
  • Experience in optimisation engineering, asset performance management, reliability improvement, diagnostics or performance engineering.
  • Experience using operational data historians and asset performance platforms such as AVEVA PI, PI Vision, PI Asset Framework, Clir or similar.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA, operational control systems and plant performance.
  • Experience preparing business cases, recommendations or investment proposals.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
  • Degree qualification in Engineering and a current Australian Driver Licence.
Qualifications / Tickets / Other
  • Degree qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Renewable Energy or equivalent).
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
