Job summary

Australian Maritime Safety Authority in Sydney seeks a Senior Officer Business Planning & Assurance (APS6 Equivalent) to lead governance, assurance and reporting across the Marine Safety and Environmental Compliance division. About the Role

Join the Marine Safety and Environmental Compliance (MSEC) division and take on a key role in driving governance, assurance, reporting and continuous improvement activities across the division. Reporting to the Business Support Advisor, you will work across a diverse range of audit, regulatory change and business improvement initiatives that support informed decision-making and contribute to the achievement of divisional objectives.

In this role you will:

• coordinate and support business assurance, audit, governance and reporting activities across MSEC
• contribute to regulatory change, operational policy and business improvement initiatives
• support the development and continuous improvement of reporting frameworks, performance measures and business processes
• prepare high-quality reports, briefings and advice to support operational and strategic decision-making
• maintain governance records, audit registers and other key business information
• build productive relationships with stakeholders across AMSA to support collaboration, consultation and the delivery of business outcomes
• identify opportunities to strengthen governance, reporting, assurance and business performance

What We’re Looking For

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience implementing policy and regulation
• Experience applying or conducting audits and associated reporting activities
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to assess information, data and outcomes to support business decision-making
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships with stakeholders and influence outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes in a timely manner when dealing with complex issues

Highly regarded:

• Experience in, or the ability to quickly gain an understanding of Australia's maritime safety regulatory framework
• Relevant qualifications in public administration, regulation or maritime studies
