Job summary

St Vincent’s Public Hospital in Sydney seeks a Senior Occupational Therapist for Aged Care. The role is permanent and full-time, based in the Occupational Therapy department, with Monday–Friday shifts. Registered Australian OT with NSW driver’s licence is required; post-graduate experience in acute hospital settings is preferred.

You will lead service delivery, collaborate with the care team, and contribute to education and quality initiatives within a renowned health precinct.

About the role

• Provide high-level, advanced clinical Occupational Therapy services, assessing patients’ occupational needs through standardised and/or functional assessments and designing and implementing patient-centred interventions across inpatient Aged Care services

• Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting of Occupational Therapy services, working closely with the Occupational Therapy Manager to support effective clinical service delivery

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary clinical care team, contributing to ward rounds, clinical team meetings, working parties and multidisciplinary planning, quality and research activities as required

• Drive evidence-based practice and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance clinical services, policies, work practices and standards, and contributing to clinical research and quality improvement activities

• Act as a local resource for complex patient cohorts, providing specialist Occupational Therapy advice and coordinating the development and evaluation of patient education resources

• Contribute to the development of students and junior staff through supervision, clinical supervision and ongoing professional development, while ensuring responsible use of Occupational Therapy and organisational resources

About you

• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy with current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA), and a current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s Licence

• Post-graduate experience in acute and/or sub-acute hospital settings, with experience working in Aged Care and across other inpatient Acute Care settings

• Experience in advanced clinical management, with the ability to apply clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgement to routine and complex matters

• Demonstrated supervision and leadership experience with staff and/or students, together with well-developed communication skills

• Demonstrated experience in quality improvement projects and/or research
