Job summary

TEKsystems, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Network Engineer for a 12-month contract with potential extension. Hybrid working arrangements across Sydney offices and remote connectivity, supporting a large regulated enterprise.

You will manage Level 2/3 network support, LAN/WAN, data centres, cloud, firewalls, and security platforms, collaborating with ITIL-aligned teams to ensure high availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer in large enterprise environments.
• Hands-on with Cisco routing/switching and Nexus data center gear.
• Experience with Fortinet firewall technologies and common security platforms.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs in complex networks.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for enterprise networks.
• Maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, and data centre networks.
• Diagnose incidents and performance issues; implement fixes and optimisations.
• Support hybrid on-prem and Azure cloud networks and security platforms.
• Follow ITIL-aligned change, incident, and problem management processes.

Senior Network Engineer

The Organisation

Our client is a large, highly regulated organisation undertaking a significant technology transformation program focused on strengthening and modernising its enterprise infrastructure, network services, security capabilities, and cloud connectivity. As part of this journey, they are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to support and enhance critical network services across a complex enterprise environment.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Network Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team on an initial 6-month contract, with 6-month extension.

This role is focused on the ongoing support, maintenance, optimisation, and continuous improvement of enterprise network infrastructure spanning corporate offices, data centres, and cloud environments. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure network services remain secure, reliable, and highly available.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for enterprise networking environments.
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless, and data centre networks.
• Diagnose and resolve network incidents, performance issues, and service disruptions.
• Support firewalls, routing, switching, load balancing, and network security platforms.
• Perform network upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and maintenance activities.
• Support hybrid infrastructure environments across both on-premises and Microsoft Azure platforms.
• Manage incidents, service requests, problems, and changes in alignment with ITIL best practices.
• Conduct root cause analysis and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
• Drive network service improvements and operational excellence initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer within large enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Cisco Routing & Switching
  • Cisco Nexus environments
  • Fortinet Firewall technologies
  • TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs
  • Enterprise WAN technologies
  • Wireless networking and controllers
• Demonstrated experience supporting complex production environments and critical infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working within ITIL-based operational environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly Desirable

• FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
• Cisco ISE and Cisco DNA Center.
• F5 Load Balancing platforms.
• Azure networking and hybrid cloud connectivity experience.
• Experience within financial services, government, or other highly regulated environments.
