A leading technology firm based in Darwin seeks a Senior Network Engineer to oversee the design and implementation of secure data communications infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with WAN/LAN networking, various networking protocols, and implementing security solutions. Candidates must hold an active Baseline security clearance and have strong communication skills. This full-time position requires on-site work within the Northern Territory.

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing the essential data communications infrastructure and pathways that enable devices and systems to communicate securely, resiliently and efficiently.
They will design and configure the network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems ensuring optimal alignment with ASD and best practice guidance on security, scalability, and resilience.
Their role spans troubleshooting connectivity issues, enforcing cybersecurity protocols, and optimising technology system resilience across local and wide area networks.
The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, troubleshooting and managing the network infrastructure of a Darwin-based organisations network throughout the Northern Territory.
Design, implement and maintain the Darwin-based organisations network infrastructure
Implement network security remediation and uplift in accordance with Australian Signals Directorate and the Darwin-based organisations requirements
Configure and troubleshoot network devices such as firewalls, routers and switches
Develop and implement network security functionality across networks
Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues
Create documentation to support the Darwin-based organisations networks, including architecture and as-built/as-configured documentation
Work closely with the Darwin-based organisations stakeholders and systems owners across multi-disciplinary teams
Carry out duties in accordance with the Darwin-based organisations safety, environmental and quality policies, safety principles, corporate values and strategies
The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is a statutory agency in the Defence portfolio that defends Australia against global threats and advances national interests through foreign signals intelligence, cyber security and offensive cyber operations.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing and managing WAN/LAN networking (MPLS, VPLS, SD-WAN, VRFs, VLANs, VPNs) and networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, ARP, DNS, DHCP)
Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, segmentation and segregation techniques)
Experience in the implementation and maintenance of network security infrastructure and security solutions
Experience in providing network monitoring and reporting activities and Industry certifications or equivalents: CCIE, CCNP, CCNA
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Cisco networking devices (FTD, routers, switches) and management platforms (Cisco ICE, DNAC)
High attention to detail with good communication skills with stakeholders and clients, and experienced in technical writing
Experience in performing architecture reviews to identify gaps in security
Familiarity with operational technology environments and their unique constraints (SCADA, DCS, PLC)
Demonstrate skills in conducting network security risk assessments, which involve evaluating an organisations network security posture by identifying vulnerabilities, weaknesses and potential threats
