Job summary

Museums Victoria is seeking a Senior Multimedia Designer to lead multimedia design across exhibitions, galleries and public spaces. You will drive storytelling through audiovisual and interactive experiences, working within the Technical Services team on new gallery developments and ongoing upgrades.

The role demands strong creative and conceptual skills, experience with AV and digital systems, and proficiency in industry tools.

Working as part of the Technical Services team, the role contributes to new gallery developments as well as refreshes, upgrades, and ongoing improvements to existing exhibitions - participating in concept development, design, prototyping, documentation, and delivery.The role provides multimedia design support within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver engaging, high-quality exhibition and gallery experiences, ensuring solutions are creative, functional, and maintainable, and supports operational outcomes by working closely with the Technical Services Operations and Events teams.Some of the key duties include:Design and develop multimedia experiences for exhibitions, galleries, and events.Contribute to new gallery developments, as well as gallery refreshes, upgrades, and continuous improvements.Collaborate with design, lighting, and technical teams to integrate multimedia into broader exhibition systems.Develop concepts, storyboards, workflows, and documentation for multimedia installations and interactive experiences.Assist in specifying multimedia hardware and software solutions, and support implementation, testing, and commissioning across exhibitions and events.The successful applicant will have:Proven experience leading design on large, high-profile exhibition or visitor experience projects.Strong creative and conceptual skills, with the ability to design engaging and audience-focused multimedia content.Experience working with AV, interactive, and digital systems, including integration into physical environments.Proficiency with industry standard tools and platforms (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Vectorworks preferred).Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.OTHER INFORMATIONThis is an ongoing, full-time position.
