Qualifications

• Relevant experience in a similar field.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in motor vehicles.
• Discuss problems with drivers to identify faults.
• Dismantle or remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms or other components, and check parts.
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts, and reassemble mechanical components.
• Test and adjust repaired sub-assemblies, and reinstall them.
• Tune engines to achieve smoother running and ensure compliance with pollution regulations.
• Re-line and adjust brakes.
• Change oil and filters, and lubricate vehicles or fuelled motor appliances.
• Inspect and service emission control systems and petrol fuel systems.
• Repair steering systems, suspension systems and hydraulic braking systems.
• Carry out service operations and diagnostic procedures.
