Job summary

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Practitioner in Croydon to lead autonomous mental health assessments, care planning and brief interventions for adults with moderate to severe conditions. You will signpost to other services and discharge to primary care when appropriate.

The role involves supervising junior staff, liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to service development while maintaining NICE-guided practice and safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Autonomous practitioner with experience in mental health assessments.
• Ability to formulate care plans and provide brief interventions (up to 12 weeks).
• Supervision of junior staff and liaison with multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of NICE guidance and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial assessments and care planning for adults in Croydon.
• Deliver brief interventions and coordinate transfers to primary care where appropriate.
• Attend regular supervision, appraisal and contribute to teaching.
• Maintain confidential records and ensure standards of practice.
