Senior Media Advisor

Location: NE Suburbs of Melbourne

Flexibility: Hybrid Working - 2 days on site

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Pay Rate: $104-112k + super

About the Role

As the Senior Media Advisor, you’ll be the trusted media expert, driving proactive campaigns and managing reactive issues to protect and enhance organisational reputation. You’ll work closely with executives and spokespeople, craft compelling narratives, and deliver media strategies that amplify stories across traditional and digital channels.

This role is hands‑on and strategic – ideal for someone who is confident, self‑managed, and eager to make their mark.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement proactive and reactive media plans to enhance organisational reputation.
  • Draft and edit media releases, statements, and thought leadership pieces for traditional and digital channels.
  • Manage media events and interviews, including logistics, briefing materials, FAQs, and spokesperson training.
  • Respond promptly to media enquiries and manage crisis communications effectively.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, government contacts, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor media coverage, analyse trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership.
About You
  • Experience in media relations or strategic communications (in‑house or agency).
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills with proven ability to craft accurate, compelling messages.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence working with senior executives.
  • Ability to manage media during crises and deliver under pressure.
  • Resilient, proactive, and outcome‑focused with a strategic mindset.
