Job summary

Rabobank in Sydney is seeking a Senior Manager to lead Operational Risk Frameworks (Model & Data) in a high-profile second line of defence role. You will oversee Model Risk, EUC Risk and Data Management Risk across the region, shaping risk frameworks and challenging design and effectiveness.

Collaborate with first line teams, drive continuous improvement, and ensure compliance with APRA CPS220 and NZ regulations while building a strong risk-aware culture across Australia and New Zealand.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Operational Risk and related disciplines within banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Model Risk Management and Data Management Risk.
• Experience in second line risk functions or independent oversight.
• Understanding of APRA prudential standards (CPS220) and risk governance.
• Analytical and control testing capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication with policy/framework experience.
• Collaborative approach navigating complex organisations.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Operational Risk Frameworks (Model & Data) to join our Risk Management team in Sydney. This is a high-profile second line of defence role, providing specialist oversight, challenge and subject matter expertise across key operational risk frameworks, with a particular focus on Model Risk, End User Computing (EUC) Risk and Data Management Risk.

Working across Australia and New Zealand, you will play a critical role in ensuring Rabobank maintains effective risk frameworks that meet evolving regulatory expectations while supporting the bank's strategic objectives.

About the Role

Reporting into the Operational Risk function, you will provide independent oversight and challenge on the design, implementation and effectiveness of operational risk frameworks across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing second line oversight of Model Risk, End User Computing (EUC) Risk and Data Management Risk.
• Assessing and challenging the effectiveness of operational risk management practices and controls.
• Supporting the design, implementation and continuous improvement of operational risk frameworks.
• Conducting independent control testing, monitoring and analytics to identify emerging risks and trends.
• Providing specialist advice, guidance and policy support to stakeholders across the business.
• Partnering with first line teams across Banking, Operations, Finance, Human Resources and other functions to strengthen risk management capability.
• Supporting compliance with APRA requirements, NewZealand regulatory obligations and Rabobank Group standards.
• Contributing to the development of a strong risk-aware culture across Australia and New Zealand.

About You

You are a risk professional with strong technical expertise and a passion for operational risk management in a complex regulatory environment.

You will bring:

• Significant experience in Operational Risk, Non-Financial Risk, Risk Frameworks or related disciplines within banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of Model Risk Management, Data Management Risk and/or End User Computing Risk.
• Experience operating in a second line risk function or providing independent oversight and challenge.
• Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly APRA prudential standards (including CPS220) and broader risk governance requirements.
• Well-developed analytical and control testing capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of an organisation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including policy and framework development experience.
• A collaborative approach and ability to navigate complex organisational environments.
