Job summary

Domain Group is seeking a Senior Manager, AI/ML Engineering to lead a fast-moving team Pricing Australian residential property with an end-to-end ownership of the ML stack. You will shape technical direction, prototype approaches, and stay close to systems to ensure reliable decisions.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, marketing and sales stakeholders, drive platform maturity, and guide deployment patterns across multiple speeds of delivery.

Qualifications

• Leadership track record — substantial experience in AI/ML or data engineering, including leading and growing engineering teams.
• Hands-on engineering — you design and prototype, then lead it through to production and own it there.
• Production ML depth — strong foundation in production ML systems, deployment, monitoring and cost management at scale.
• Generative AI in production — practical experience with LLM/VLM or agent-based applications, with guardrails and deployment patterns.
• Data & cloud foundations — fluency with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, AWS and infrastructure-as-code.
• Platform thinking — experience owning or building an AI/ML platform and guiding its roadmap.
• Experience in property, marketplaces, or large-scale consumer data products.
• A related degree is required.
• A voice in the community — speaking, writing, or contributing to the field.

Job description

We are looking to hire a Senior Manager, AI/ML Engineering to join our team.

You will lead the team that owns two things: the machine learning that values Australian residential property, and the AI platform the rest of Domain builds on. It's a genuinely hands-on leadership role — you'll set technical direction, shape and prototype the approach yourself, and stay close enough to the systems to make good calls about them. The portfolio runs at three speeds: a mature valuation estate where releases are scheduled and breaking things is expensive, an agentic AI platform where you'll be writing the standards as you go, and the shared data foundations both depend on.

Reporting to the Director of AI & Machine Learning you will partner closely with senior stakeholders across products, engineering, marketing, and sales.

What you’ll do

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of senior machine learning, data and platform engineers — hiring well, coaching often, and building the next generation of technical leaders.


• Define and maintain Domain's AI platform and its maturity roadmap — agent frameworks, evaluation, deployment patterns and the shared capabilities that let product teams build faster.


• Take end-to-end accountability for the machine learning that prices Australian residential property — training, release, backfill and monitoring — where accuracy is measurable and downtime is expensive.


• Own the pipelines, warehouse infrastructure and published data products the models and the platform run on, including the datasets other teams consume through our APIs.

What you'll bring

• Leadership track record — substantial experience in AI/ML or data engineering, including several years leading and growing engineering teams


• Hands‑on engineering — you design and prototype, make the case for the approach to the people who need convincing, and then lead it through to production and own it there.


• Production ML depth — a strong foundation in production of ML systems and MLOps — deployment, CI/CD/CT pipelines, monitoring and drift detection, and managing reliability, scalability and cost at scale.


• Generative AI in production — practical experience taking LLM/VLM or agent-based applications beyond prototype — evaluation, guardrails, deployment patterns and the operational realities that follow.


• Data & cloud foundations — solid grounding in the modern data stack — a cloud warehouse such as Snowflake, a transformation framework such as dbt and a scheduler such as Airflow — plus fluency with a major cloud platform, AWS preferred, including infrastructure as code.


• Platform thinking — experience owning or building an AI/ML platform and shaping its capability roadmap.


• Experience in property, marketplaces, or large-scale consumer data products.


• A degree in a related field


• A voice in the community — speaking, writing, or otherwise contributing to the field.
