Job summary

Sharp & Carter is recruiting a Management Accountant for a values-driven aged care and community services provider in Melbourne’s south-east. You’ll lead budgeting, forecasting and management reporting, partnering with operational managers to drive financial performance.

This hands-on role owns the budget cycle, delivers detailed analysis, reconciliations and compliance reporting, and seeks process improvements.

Qualifications

• Must have management accounting, reporting and budgeting experience.
• Experience in aged care is essential to understand sector requirements.
• Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the annual budget process, ongoing forecasting and budget monitoring.
• Prepare monthly management reports, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and practical advice to operational managers.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and support month-end and year-end processes.
• Complete government and sector reporting, including the QFR and ACFR, plus funding and grant acquittals.
• Prepare BAS and support audit readiness.
• Identify, recommend and implement improvements to systems and processes.
• Support and guide the finance team as a credible, knowledgeable resource.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll take the lead on budgeting, forecasting and management reporting, and work closely with operational managers to help them understand their numbers and hit their financial goals.

This is a hands-on role with real ownership. You’ll lead the budget cycle, prepare detailed financial analysis, oversee reconciliations and compliance reporting, and look for ways to improve systems and processes. You’ll also act as a role model and go-to resource for the wider finance team.

Key Responsibilities

About You

• Degree qualified in Accounting, with CPA or equivalent


• Demonstrated experience in management accounting, reporting and budgeting


• Experience in aged care is essential


• Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements


• Advanced Excel skills and broad experience across accounting software


• Self-motivated, organised and detail-focused, with strong communication skills


• A caring, collaborative approach and a commitment to strong service values
