The Department of Justice QLD's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) seeks two Senior Legal Support Officers to join the Appeals team in Brisbane. You will assist senior Legal Practitioners by preparing high-quality legal material and coordinating appearances in key cases.

Qualifications

• Intermediate understanding of legal practice and Appeals process.
• Strong written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
• Strong analytical and legal research abilities.
• Professional communication with stakeholders, confidentiality and tact.
• Experience engaging with victims of crime in a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive manner.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document systems.
• Ability to undertake intrastate travel.

Responsabilités

• Prepare accurate criminal court documents, including subpoenas and affidavits.
• Maintain Appeals case files, briefs, witness lists, exhibits and materials.
• Disclose prosecution materials to defence counsel and issue instructions to relevant parties.
• Support legal practitioners with file notes, statements and documentation.
• Appear in court as an instructing clerk during hearings.
• Coordinate appeals listings with Listings Unit and Court Registrars.
• Prepare sitting reports and records of court proceedings.
• Conduct legal research using a range of resources and databases.
• Develop relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
