Job summary

UNSW in Sydney is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) to develop a distinctive research and teaching program in One Health microbiology with environmental and planetary health focus. You will draw on field, genomic, multi-omic, and modelling approaches to build an independent research platform and contribute to teaching in microbiology and related disciplines.

The role includes leadership in curriculum renewal and research-led teaching, with opportunities for HDR

Qualifications

PhD in environmental microbiology or closely related discipline.
Demonstrated research track record appropriate to career stage.
Experience supervising HDRs (Level C) and contributing to curriculum innovation.

Responsibilities

Establish internationally competitive research in environmental One Health microbiology.
Develop understanding of microbiome connectivity across environmental systems with planetary health focus.
Collaborate across disciplines and develop partnerships with government, industry, environmental managers, agriculture and research organisations.
Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in microbiology and related areas.
Develop research-led learning activities and curriculum innovation, including potential 'Frontiers in Microbiology' course.
Mentor HDR students and contribute to a collegial, inclusive research culture.
Apply a teaching philosophy and provide assessment and feedback.
Contribute to School meetings, seminars and committees and to Faculty and University service.
Align with the Code of Conduct and Values and comply with health and safety policies.
