Job summary

Western Sydney University’s School of Education is inviting applications for a Senior Lecturer, Educational Leadership. You will coordinate and teach Educational Leadership topics across undergrad and postgrad programs, while leading the design and improvement of contemporary curriculum and learning experiences.

You will maintain an active research program, publish impactful work, and contribute to collaborative projects, funding apps and HDR supervision.

Qualifications

• PhD or EdD in Education with focus on Educational Leadership is mandatory.
• Proven record of research achievement in Educational Leadership or related field.
• Experience designing and delivering high-quality tertiary teaching and curriculum development.

• Salary: $152,333 – $174,978 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity

Join Western Sydney University’s School of Education as a Senior Lecturer, Educational Leadership and make a significant contribution to the future of Educational Leadership through teaching, research, scholarship and sector engagement. This is an opportunity for an established academic with a strong Educational Leadership profile to shape contemporary learning and contribute to the continued growth and impact of the discipline.

You will coordinate and teach Educational Leadership subjects across undergraduate and postgraduate Education programs, while leading the design, development and continuous improvement of contemporary, evidence-informed curriculum and learning experiences.

You will maintain an active program of research and scholarship in Educational Leadership, produce high-quality research outputs and build scholarly impact within the discipline and broader education community. You will contribute to collaborative research projects, research funding applications and externally funded initiatives, while supervising Honours, postgraduate coursework and Higher Degree Research candidates and contributing to a vibrant and productive research culture within the School.

You will also have the opportunity to build meaningful connections beyond the University, developing productive partnerships with schools, education systems, professional associations, government agencies and community organisations. Through these partnerships, alongside contributions to curriculum development, course review, accreditation, governance and academic initiatives, you will help strengthen the School’s teaching excellence, research profile and connection to the broader education sector.

About You

We are looking for an established academic who brings expertise, curiosity and a strong commitment to Educational Leadership, together with the ability to make a meaningful contribution across teaching, research and engagement. You will bring:

• A completed PhD or EdD in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership is a mandatory requirement of this position. Applicants who do not hold a PhD or EdD will not be progressed.
• A demonstrated record of research achievement in Educational Leadership or a related field, including high-quality publications and scholarly contribution.
• Demonstrated capacity to contribute to research projects, research funding applications and productive research collaborations.
• Extensive experience in high-quality and innovative tertiary teaching, curriculum development and learning design across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
• Experience designing and delivering engaging learning experiences using educational technologies and online delivery modes.
• Demonstrated success supervising Honours and Higher Degree Research candidates.
• Demonstrated ability to build productive partnerships with schools, professional bodies, government and community stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and supporting student success.
