Job description

Senior Landscape Architect - ( 260000LC )

Description

Our growing Landscape Architecture team is looking for a Senior Landscape Architect to join us on a permanent basis, within our Canberra office. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Stantec’s national landscape design team, delivering landscape architecture services to external and internal clients, both locally and across Australia

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, visualisation, and documentation of a wide range of landscape projects, including urban design led infrastructure and community development initiatives. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (planning, stakeholder engagement, ecology, environmental science, engineering, transportation planning) you will provide landscape design expertise and advice.

Our team specializes in urban public spaces, parks and open spaces, multiuse pathways, roadway enhancements, data centres, healthcare, commercial and residential developments, habitat enhancements, watercourse restoration, urban forestry, and Low Impact Development. We connect the people, places, and resources that take a project from concept to reality, in built form.

Our culture has a strong focus on learning, personal development and training. The senior members of the team are hands‑on with delivering projects, however, within our growing team, there are opportunities to develop strategic growth plans, gain additional responsibility and more ownership/autonomy over their work.

As part of our team, you will be supported in developing both professionally and personally, with the opportunity to build a rewarding and challenging career within a leading consultancy.

Day to day tasks would involve:
  • Conceptualize, design and document landscape architectural design packages, using a range of tools and programs.
  • Prepare supporting design documents, i.e. Design reports, Construction Specifications, Opinion of Probable Costs etc.
  • Support business development activities by contributing to proposals and presentations, and by building positive relationships with existing and potential clients.
  • Collaborate with the broader Landscape Architecture team and multidisciplinary project teams to promote and strengthen Landscape Architecture services across the business both internally and externally.
  • Stay informed on industry standards, emerging design trends, and best practices to enhance project quality and support ongoing professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with new and existing clients.
  • Other ad hoc duties as required.
To be successful for this role you'll need:
  • Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) recognised qualification in Landscape Architecture
  • Minimum 7 years working experience in consulting field and/or recognised as a Landscape Architect in your current role.
  • Registration with the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) is an advantage but not essential. Support can be provided for candidates working towards becoming a Registered Landscape Architect.
  • Solid skills in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop and InDesign), and MS Office. Experience with 3D rendering software an asset but not essential.
  • Ability to work alone and coordinate within a team to achieve project deadlines.
  • Well-developed communication skills (verbal, written and graphic).
