An educational institution in Victoria is seeking a Koorie Liaison Officer to lead Koorie student support, build relationships with Aboriginal communities, and enhance cultural understanding within the institute. The role involves coordinating support officers, implementing positive engagement strategies, and facilitating awareness programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The Koorie Liaison Officer (KLO), coordinates and leads Koorie Student Support Officers (KSSO) and establishes effective and positive working relationships between BHI and Koorie students, local communities, service providers, and industry and business partners.
The KLO does this by researching, developing and implementing activities and approaches that support the development, implementation and review of BHI’s Wurreker Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan.
The KLO coordinates student engagement and retention strategies, and matters involving cultural knowledge and awareness to encourage cultural understanding and safety within BHI. The KLO facilitates events, programs and projects designed to raise awareness and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culture within the BHI community.
The position reports to the Associate Director, Student Life and works collaboratively with teachers and managers at all levels to engage, retain, and build the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The position works closely with other members of the Student Life team to achieve its operational plan.
The Student Life Team works cooperatively with students and teachers to provide an engaging, positive and supportive learning community enabling high student retention and success, where the student voice is heard, and is reflected positively internally and to prospective students and clients. The Student Life Team is an important part of BHI’s student value chain providing leadership in the development and delivery of a holistic, outstanding, and distinctive student experience so that the students have a seamless and improved end-to-end student experience.
This position is ongoing full time. Salary is level PACCT 6 $77,949 per annum plus superannuation.
