Job summary

Federal Government seeks an experienced Principal Software Engineer (EL2 equivalent) to support and enhance NEXUS, a mission-critical platform used by RCCA for national search and rescue operations based in ACT. The role focuses on building and maintaining enterprise Java applications in a hybrid ACT environment.

You will work across AWS, develop APIs, manage Oracle databases, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines while supporting releases in a life-critical system.

Qualifications

• 8+ years Java experience (Spring/Hibernate).
• Strong AWS + API development.
• Oracle / data modelling skills.
• Experience in enterprise / gov environments.
• Ability to obtain Baseline clearance.

• Start: ASAP
• 12 months + 12 month extension
• Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
• Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance required

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer (EL2 equivalent) to support and enhance NEXUS, a mission-critical platform used by the Rescue Coordination Centre Australia (RCCA). The system plays a vital role in coordinating maritime and aviation search and rescue operations, as well as national pollution response activities.

As part of a highly capable technical team, you'll contribute to the development, support and continuous improvement of a complex cloud-based platform that delivers real-world impact.
