Job summary

AMP is seeking a Senior Investment Risk Manager in Sydney to provide independent risk oversight across diversified portfolios and to challenge investment decisions with evidence-based analysis. You'll work closely with portfolio managers and senior stakeholders to ensure risks are understood and aligned to objectives.

This role requires extensive experience in institutional investment risk, multi-asset investing and regulatory contexts.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years' experience in institutional investment risk, portfolio construction, multi-asset investing, asset consulting or a senior investment oversight role.
  • Experience working with large, diversified portfolios, preferably in superannuation, wealth, insurance, asset owner or fiduciary environments.
  • Strong understanding of Australian superannuation, platform and regulatory contexts, including trustee governance and APRA/ASIC expectations.
  • Experience with risk tools and data platforms such as Barra, APT, MSCI Risk Manager, Aladdin, FactSet, Bloomberg or equivalent systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence investment decisions through credible analysis, clear communication and sound judgement.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, actuarial studies, mathematics, engineering or a related discipline. CFA, FRM, CAIA or postgraduate qualifications would be well regarded.
  • Experience preparing board, trustee or investment committee reporting and presenting to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk oversight across multi-asset portfolios, ensuring alignment with investment objectives, risk budgets and mandates.
  • Deliver actionable risk insights through portfolio analytics, stress testing, scenario analysis and liquidity assessments.
  • Challenge investment decisions relating to asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager structures and new opportunities.
  • Support governance and decision-making through concise reporting to senior stakeholders, committees and trustees.
  • Identify and manage emerging risks while driving continuous improvement in risk frameworks, systems, data and reporting.

As Senior Investment Risk Manager, you will provide independent oversight and challenge across diversified investment portfolios, helping improve portfolio outcomes through clear, evidence-based risk insights. Working closely with portfolio managers and senior stakeholders, you'll ensure risks are understood, appropriately rewarded and aligned to investment objectives, while delivering forward-looking analysis on emerging risks, portfolio resilience and member outcomes.
