Job summary

BYD Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support regional technology infrastructure from the Mulgrave office. You will join the Headquarters Digital Solution Centre to ensure reliable, secure and scalable infrastructure for business systems.

Responsibilities include planning and operating IDC and cloud infrastructure, container platforms, and automation with Shell/Python. This fixed-term contract may transition to permanent employment, with opportunities to work

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in systems or infrastructure operations with 50+ Linux nodes.
• Strong proficiency in Linux administration and Shell/Python scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with load balancing technologies including HAProxy, LVS and Nginx.
• Experience operating mainstream cloud platforms such as Huawei Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, AWS or equivalent.
• Ability to independently perform cloud environment optimisation and troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
• Experience developing or implementing infrastructure automation and operational tooling.
• Strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. Travel internationally as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, deployment and full lifecycle operation of IDC and cloud platform infrastructure across the region, ensuring stable, efficient and secure infrastructure support for business systems.
• Provide end-to-end operational support for application systems, including deployment and release, performance analysis and optimisation, issue tracking and incident response, to ensure business continuity and service stability.
• Conduct daily infrastructure and application monitoring, capacity planning, cost optimisation, security compliance checks and audits, and implement cloud environment optimisation and resource governance initiatives.
• Manage deployment, monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting of Docker and Kubernetes container platforms and implement CI/CD practices to support agile delivery and scalable business applications.
• Lead infrastructure resource provisioning and automation across network, server, cloud and container environments. Develop and deploy automation tools using scripting languages including Shell and Python to improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and support cloud platforms such as Huawei Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, AWS or equivalent, and private clouds; maintain virtualization technologies.
• Provide configuration, performance tuning and troubleshooting for applications and web infrastructure including Nginx and Tomcat; contribute to high-availability architecture and large-scale environments.
• Support operation, maintenance and optimisation of relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL; basic NoSQL knowledge with Redis, MongoDB, Memcached.
• Stay up to date with emerging infrastructure technologies and drive knowledge sharing and tooling improvements.
• Collaborate with Headquarters Platform Team to implement unified infrastructure operations practices and security requirements.

About The Role

Based at BYD’s Mulgrave office, this role will join the Headquarters Digital Solution Centre and work closely with the local IT team to support the reliability, security and performance of BYD’s regional technology infrastructure.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation and full lifecycle operation of IDC and cloud platform infrastructure across the region. The role will focus on ensuring the stable and efficient operation of business systems, containerised platforms and related infrastructure, as well as developing automation tools to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

This is a fixed-term contract position with potential to transition to permanent employment, subject to business requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, deployment and full lifecycle operation and maintenance of IDC and cloud platform infrastructure across the region, ensuring stable, efficient and secure infrastructure support for business systems.
• Provide end-to-end operational support for application systems, including deployment and release, performance analysis and optimisation, issue tracking and incident response, to ensure business continuity and service stability.
• Conduct daily infrastructure and application monitoring, capacity planning, cost optimisation, security compliance checks and audits, and implement cloud environment optimisation and resource governance initiatives.
• Manage the deployment, monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting of Docker and Kubernetes container platforms and implement CI/CD practices to support agile delivery and scalable business applications.

• Manage and support mainstream public cloud platforms, including HUAWEI CLOUD, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Oracle Cloud and GCP, as well as private cloud platforms such as HUAWEI HCS and Alibaba Apsara Stack. Maintain and support virtualisation technologies.
• Provide configuration, performance tuning and troubleshooting for applications and web infrastructure including Nginx and Tomcat. Contribute to high-availability and scalable architecture design and support large-scale environments with 50+ servers.
• Support the operation, maintenance and optimisation of relational databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL, with basic operational knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Redis, MongoDB and Memcached.
• Stay up to date with emerging infrastructure and operations technologies, facilitate internal technical knowledge sharing and training, and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational systems, processes and tooling.
• Work closely with the Headquarters Platform Team to implement unified infrastructure operations practices, technical standards, security requirements and automation toolchains.
• Act as a key liaison for regional infrastructure and technology matters, including managing relationships with local vendors, cloud service providers and technology partners.

• Strong proficiency in Linux administration and Shell/Python scripting.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with load balancing technologies including HAProxy, LVS and Nginx.
• Experience operating and managing mainstream cloud platforms such as HUAWEI CLOUD, Alibaba Cloud, AWS or equivalent.
