Job summary

Clicks IT Recruitment seeks a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Automation Specialist) to design, automate, and support enterprise OpenShift/OpenStack platforms. You will drive platform reliability, observability, and efficient cloud operations in a large technology environment.

Lead automation initiatives with IaC, CI/CD, and GitOps practices, mentoring others while solving complex infrastructure challenges. NV1-clearance is preferred or required for this role.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, OpenStack.
• Experience with OpenStack, private cloud environments.
• Proven expertise implementing observability and telemetry across systems.
• Strong automation and IaC using Ansible, GitOps, ArgoCD, CI/CD pipelines.
• Advanced Linux administration skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting and stakeholder engagement abilities.

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Automation Specialist) to join a high-performing team delivering modern cloud and container platform capabilities within a large and complex technology environment. This role will suit an experienced engineer who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges through automation, platform engineering, and cloud-native technologies.

About the Role

You will be responsible for designing, automating, and supporting enterprise-scale OpenShift and OpenStack environments while driving platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence. Working within a collaborative engineering team, you'll help deliver scalable cloud solutions that support critical digital services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage enterprise-scale OpenShift and OpenStack platforms.
• Automate cluster provisioning, configuration, scaling, and lifecycle management.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, telemetry, and observability solutions across cloud and container platforms.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions and automation frameworks.
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable infrastructure deployments.
• Configure and manage developer tooling and standardised development environments.
• Optimise platform performance, availability, security, and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and contribute to platform engineering best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience managing complex enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Red Hat OpenShift
  • Kubernetes
  • Enterprise container platforms
• Experience working with:
  • OpenStack
  • Private cloud environments
  • Virtualisation technologies
• Proven expertise implementing observability and telemetry solutions, including monitoring, logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Strong automation and Infrastructure as Code experience using tools such as:
  • Ansible
  • GitOps
  • ArgoCD
  • CI/CD pipelines
• Advanced Linux administration skills.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with OpenShift Dev Spaces, cloud IDEs, or developer experience tooling.
• Industry certifications in OpenShift, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Linux, or related technologies.
• Experience operating within large-scale enterprise or government environments.
