The Senior Information Systems Data Architect serves as a strategic leader responsible for defining and executing comprehensive data frameworks that align with organizational objectives. This pivotal role involves analyzing existing system structures to drive the development of robust architectural requirements while collaborating closely with data science and corporate IT teams to anticipate future data needs. The incumbent will spearhead the implementation of enterprise-wide data strategies, ensuring seamless integration across internal and external systems. Furthermore, this position is critical for establishing a rigorous data governance ecosystem that encompasses security, quality, stewardship, and metadata management, ultimately facilitating informed decision-making through clear communication of architectural plans and progress to key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Analyze organizational systems and strategic goals to formulate and manage the development of structural data requirements.
- Coordinate with the data science department to forecast emerging needs and define precise data specifications.
- Execute enterprise-level data architecture strategies tailored to specific subject areas.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between business units and corporate information technology to successfully deploy data strategies.
- Establish and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework covering roles, policies, standards, data dictionaries, quality metrics, lineage mapping, security protocols, and stewardship practices.
- Communicate project statuses, strategic plans, and potential issues effectively to all key stakeholders.
- Oversee the creation and review of both conceptual and physical data models, including the development of data flow diagrams.
- Design and implement data integration frameworks to ensure interoperability between systems within and outside the organization.
Requirements
- Possess between seven (7) and fifteen (15) years of professional experience as an Information Systems Data Architect.
- Hold a recognized tertiary qualification in data architecture or a related field.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in at least two of the following core domains, with a working knowledge of all:
- Database design and implementation.
- Database management systems.
- Data governance.
- Data modeling.
- Data integration.
- Exhibit exceptional presentation abilities for conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Possess superior written communication and facilitation skills.
- Show the capacity to operate autonomously and adapt effectively within fast-paced, dynamic, and occasionally unstructured environments.
