Job summary

Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District seeks a Visiting Medical Officer (General Practitioner with Obstetrics) for Lithgow Hospital. The role is fee-for-service with on-call duties and a quinquennium contract to 30 June 2027. Applicants must hold AHPRA registration and FRACGP/FACRRM or equivalent experience.

Fellowship by the start of the Clinical Year is preferred; credentialing across LHD facilities may be available. Applications close 1 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Full registration with AHPRA and fellowship in General Practice or Rural Medicine.
• Evidence of ongoing medical education and quality assurance activities.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and supervise junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess, investigate and provide appropriate care for patients at Lithgow Hospital.
• Be on-call as part of the roster and deliver obstetric GP services.
• Credentialing and privileging across Nepean Blue Mountains LHD facilities.
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff.
