Job summary

WSP Australia is seeking a Senior GIS Consultant to deliver data-driven GIS outputs and lead technical delivery across diverse projects in Queensland. The role blends GIS expertise with client engagement to drive value and project success.

You will work within WSP’s Geospatial team, applying ESRI, MapInfo and FME on enterprise data, while mentoring junior colleagues and supporting business development activities.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years’ experience in GIS consulting or related field.
• Degree in GIS or an equivalent discipline.
• Strong skills in ESRI, MapInfo, FME, and spatial data environments.
• Experience managing multiple projects of varying scale and complexity.
• Exposure to scripting or application development (Python or similar).
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality technical outputs and reports.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• A proactive approach to business development and client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality GIS outputs, including mapping, spatial analysis, and data management solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across a range of projects, ensuring quality and client outcomes.
• Manage and deliver projects – including scope, cost, risk, and program.
• Contribute to and support tenders, proposals, and business development initiatives.
• Work with enterprise GIS systems, scripting, and spatial applications.
• Build strong client relationships and maintain a trusted advisor status.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability uplift within the team.
