Job summary

Hatch in Perth is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical investigations and design across mining, industrial and energy projects. You will deliver studies from concept through detailed design, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, quality, and practical outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Environmental Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist.
  • 10+ years’ experience in geotechnical design.
  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Proficiency with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, Bentley, Leapfrog, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical design codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Collaborate on exciting projects to develop innovative solutions.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects across the mining, industrial, and energy sectors.

In this role, you will lead and execute geotechnical investigations, advanced numerical modelling, and geotechnical/geological design. This opportunity is well suited to a technically strong engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys mentoring others, and is motivated by challenging, high-impact work.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of geotechnical studies and design solutions, from early concept through to detailed design and site support. This includes preparing and reviewing technical documentation, embedding safety-in-design principles, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and engineering integrity. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to innovation and technical excellence, and provide specialist advice to both project and site teams. A key part of the role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, supporting their development, and fostering knowledge sharing across the broader business.
