Job summary

Humanforce is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our product and engineering team. This role covers the full software development lifecycle, designing, building and improving customer-focused solutions across backend and frontend.

You will work with a collaborative team of engineers, product managers, designers and other specialists. The role requires strong technical capability, sound engineering judgment and a practical, customer-focused mindset. Hybrid work model in Australia.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our growing product and engineering team. This is an opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to modern, scalable products used by organisations around the world. You will play an important role in designing, building and improving customer-focused solutions across both backend and frontend technologies.

You will work with a collaborative team of engineers, product managers, designers and other specialists. You will bring strong technical capability, sound engineering judgement and a genuine interest in solving complex problems in a practical, customer-focused way.

What you will do

• Design, build, test and maintain high-quality full stack software solutions.
• Develop backend services and APIs using .NET and related technologies.
• Build responsive, intuitive user experiences using the frontend technologies and practices used by the team.
• Contribute to technical design, architecture and engineering standards.
• Work closely with Product, Design and other engineering teams to deliver valuable customer outcomes, while constructively challenging assumptions and negotiating practical scope where needed.
• Translate business and customer needs into practical technical solutions.
• Take ownership of work from discovery and estimation through to delivery and ongoing improvement, proactively looking beyond assigned tickets to identify and investigate opportunities to improve the product.
• Adopt a testing-first mindset by writing, running and updating appropriate automated tests alongside code changes, validating behaviour before changes are released, and keeping test coverage and regression protection current as the system evolves.
• Identify and address performance, scalability, reliability and security considerations.
• Participate in code reviews and support a culture of clean, maintainable code.
• Mentor and support the development of other engineers, helping to build an engaged, accountable and collaborative team.
• Investigate and resolve production issues when required.
• Be inquisitive about how the product and team work, challenge “this is how it’s always been” when appropriate, and have the courage to propose and help deliver meaningful changes to practices, tooling and ways of working.
• Explore and responsibly apply AI tools to improve development efficiency, quality and problem-solving.

What we are looking for

• Significant experience in full stack software engineering within a commercial product or SaaS environment.
• Strong experience developing applications using .NET and C#.
• Strong experience building user interfaces using the frontend technologies relevant to the team’s product, together with a solid understanding of modern frontend practices.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and working with relational databases.
• Understanding of cloud platforms, automated testing, CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• A testing-first mindset and practical experience writing, maintaining and improving automated tests appropriate to the change, such as unit, integration, API or end-to-end tests.
• A strong sense of ownership for the quality, testability and maintainability of your changes.
• Experience working with agile product and engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, engineering patterns and development lifecycle practices.
• A track record of delivering reliable, maintainable and scalable software.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make pragmatic technical decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the ability to negotiate requirements and manage expectations constructively with Product.
• Experience mentoring or leading other engineers, with the ability to support team engagement, accountability and development.
• A genuinely inquisitive, ambitious and proactive mindset: someone who wants to understand the product, customers and underlying problems, actively looks for improvements, and has the courage to challenge established ways of working and make changes.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development and AI-enabled product experiences.
