What we do is integral to the Government’s decision-making processes about where and how to spend taxpayer’s money to ensure Western Australians have access to quality services on a financially sustainable basis.

We lead procurement and leverage our buying power to secure products and services for government, achieving value for money for WA.

We collect revenue to fund government services and administer payment of grants and subsidies to the WA community.

The work area

This role sits within the Financial Policy and Operations team, which is part of the Office of the Deputy Under Treasurer business unit. The team provides advice in relation to the State’s Financial Management and Accountability Framework and provides advice on a range of issues that influence government’s decision-making.

The opportunity

Are you enthusiastic about shaping financial policy and interpreting legislation to support effective government decision-making? We are seeking a motivated Senior Financial Policy Advisor to join our Financial Policy and Operations team and make a real impact on financial governance in Western Australia.

In this role, you will:

  • Research, analyse and evaluate legislation, regulations and policy in relation to the State’s financial management framework, including WA Treasurer’s Instructions and associated guidance materials.
  • Provide written advice to government agencies on their legislative and compliance obligations and make recommendations regarding policies and practices.
  • Develop and draft financial policy proposals and legislative instruments to strengthen financial governance across the public sector.

This is your chance to influence financial policy at a whole‑of‑government level and help shape the legislative frameworks that underpin Western Australia’s financial integrity. If you have experience interpreting legislation in a financial context, strong analytical skills, and a collaborative approach, we encourage you to apply.
