Job summary

Ambition Group in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant to own the numbers in a fast-growing business. You will handle month-end close, hands-on AP/AR, and help shape how the finance function operates as the company scales.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AP/AR experience, not just oversight.
• Solid month-end, reconciliations and statutory reporting background.
• Proactive self-starter comfortable in a smaller, less structured environment.
• Strong stakeholder communication skills.
• Experience driving process improvements or supporting ERP upgrades.
• CA/CPA qualified or working towards it (mindset matters more).

Responsibilities

• Act as right-hand to the Finance Lead, bridging management and the wider team.
• Collaborate with AP/AR across close cycles, manage accruals, billing, revenue recognition, payroll journals and asset reconciliations.
• Own month-end close, including reconciliations, journals and reporting.
• Hands-on with AP/AR and close gaps in processes.
• Drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
• Be the go-to for external auditors and manage the annual audit.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with insightful commentary.
• Assist BAS/IAS, GST and FBT lodgements.
• Mentor junior or outsourced team members.

Ready to move from being one of many in a big finance team to actually owning the numbers?

We're recruiting for a fast-growing business that's scaling quickly and needs a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant. This isn't a role where you'll be siloed into one narrow function. You'll be across month-end close, hands-on AP/AR, and genuinely shaping how the finance team operates as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Acting as right-hand support to the Finance Lead, bridging management and the wider team
• Collaborate with the AP/AR function across close cycles, keeping accruals, billing, revenue recognition, payroll journals and asset reconciliations accurate and on track
• Owning month-end close - reconciliations, journals, reporting
• Getting hands-on with AP/AR and fixing process gaps as you find them\
• Driving process improvements in a fast-paced, still-evolving environment
• Be the go-to contact for external auditors and run the annual audit process
• Support budgeting and forecasting, adding commentary that helps stakeholders make sense of the numbers
• Supporting BAS/IAS, GST and FBT lodgements
• Mentoring junior or outsourced team members

What We're Looking For:
