Job summary

Staff 360 invites an experienced Senior Farmhand to join a well-established mixed farming enterprise near Inverleigh, just outside Geelong. The role covers day-to-day cropping, machinery operation, and sheep activities across a 4,500-hectare property with on-farm accommodation.

You will work with modern equipment and RTK GPS systems, contributing across cropping and livestock duties throughout the season. The position requires practical, hands-on farming ability, independence, and reliable

Qualifications

• Strong broadacre cropping and machinery experience throughout the enterprise.
• Experience operating modern tractors and implements across crops.
• GPS/autosteer experience, ideally including RTK systems.
• Spraying and chemical application experience across crops and pastures.
• Practical mechanical and machinery maintenance skills.
• Sheep or livestock handling experience within a Merino program.
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day tasks.
• Good communication and record-keeping skills.
• Current driver's licence; chemical accreditation and truck licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Cropping & Machinery: broadacre operations, cultivation, spraying, seeding, fodder, harvest and grain handling.
• Operate modern tractors and farm machinery with RTK GPS technology.
• Machinery setup, calibration and adjustments; routine servicing and basic repairs.
• Assist with cropping programs and seasonal priorities.
• Sheep & Livestock: general husbandry, mustering, paddock work and handling, yard work and feeding.
• Support animal health and production programs.
• General farm operations: fencing, roads, water systems, machinery maintenance, vehicle use, record keeping and OH&S.

Senior Farmhand – Cropping & Livestock

Inverleigh / Geelong Region, Victoria

Broadacre Cropping & Merino Sheep

Full-time | On-farm accommodation available

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Farmhand to join a well-established mixed farming enterprise located near Inverleigh, approximately 40 minutes from Geelong. Operating across approximately 4,500 hectares, the business combines broadacre production of wheat, beans and canola with a self-replacing Merino flock. This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced farmhand who is confident with modern cropping machinery and can also contribute across livestock operations. Working alongside the Farm Manager and existing team, you will take responsibility across day-to-day cropping, machinery and sheep activities throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities Cropping & Machinery

• Broadacre cropping operations including cultivation, spraying, spreading, seeding, fodder production, harvest and grain handling
• Operating modern tractors, cropping equipment and farm machinery using RTK GPS technology
• Machinery setup, calibration and adjustments to suit operating conditions
• Routine servicing, maintenance and basic mechanical repairs
• Assisting with implementation of cropping programs and seasonal priorities

Sheep & Livestock

• General sheep husbandry across a self-replacing Merino enterprise
• Mustering, paddock work and livestock handling
• Yard work, feeding and seasonal livestock activities
• Assisting with animal health and production programs

General Farm Operations

• Fencing and maintenance of roads, water systems and farm infrastructure
• Operation of front-end loaders, telehandlers, utes, ATVs and UTVs
• Workshop and machinery maintenance
• Truck driving where appropriately licensed
• Accurate record keeping and reporting
• Maintaining high standards of workplace safety and OH&S

About You

We are looking for an experienced and practical farm operator who can work confidently across a mixed farming operation.

Ideally you will have:

• Strong broadacre cropping and machinery experience
• Experience operating modern tractors and implements
• GPS/autosteer experience, ideally including RTK systems
• Spraying and chemical application experience
• Practical mechanical and machinery maintenance skills
• Sheep or livestock handling experience
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for day-to-day tasks
• Good communication and record-keeping skills
• Current driver's licence
• Chemical accreditation and truck licence advantageous

Candidates with particularly strong cropping experience and a willingness to work across the sheep enterprise are encouraged to apply, as are experienced livestock operators with solid machinery and cropping capability.
