Job summary

Resources Safety & Health Queensland is seeking a seasoned explosives professional to join the Explosives Inspectorate as Principal Inspector, South Region, based in Brisbane. You will lead the regional team, oversee inspections, investigations and licensing, and provide expert, evidence-based regulatory advice to promote consistent, risk-based practice.

• Experience in explosives industry and regulatory environment.
• Proven leadership and people management skills.
• Current Australian driver licence required.
• Willingness to travel regionally and participate in emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Lead the South Region Explosives Inspectorate, overseeing inspections, investigations, audits and licensing.
• Provide evidence-based advice on compliance, enforcement and risk-based regulation.
• Develop a high-performing team and foster continuous improvement.
• Build trusted relationships with industry, government and community stakeholders.
• Support 24/7 emergency response readiness as required.
