Job summary

Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) in Sydney, NSW, seeks an SES Band 2 First Assistant Secretary – Affmat Measures, Disability Employment. You will shape the department's direction, connect diverse program areas, and create coherence across a complex portfolio.

You will lead major functions, drive policy and delivery, build capability, and steward the organisation to meet current priorities and emerging needs across employment, skills, workplace relations, digital and data.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated track record of executive leadership and delivery in complex environments.
• Ability to frame complex issues for Ministers and senior decision-makers.
• Strong judgement and capability to translate strategy into action across a large organisation.

Responsibilities

• Shape policy, drive delivery and build organisational capability across DEWR.
• Lead significant functions and people while contributing to strategy, governance, culture and stewardship.
• Develop credible alternatives, surface trade-offs and provide authoritative advice.
• Turn strategy into outcomes at scale and move major initiatives from intent to execution.
• Build coalitions across APS and engage with industry, unions and communities.
• Drive system-level change and embed First Nations perspectives in decision-making.
• Lead organisational transformation and foster innovation while ensuring delivery.
