Job summary

Taylor Corporation is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our collaborative team in Sydney. You will lead tender strategies for medium to large projects, review subcontractor quotations, and mentor the estimating team to ensure competitive pricing and robust risk management.

The role requires a degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 5 years estimating experience, with the ability to manage multiple tenders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in construction management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years estimating experience or 10 years in a relevant industry role.
• Strong ability to cover subcontractor markets and cost from first principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop tender strategies and secure competitive tenders and bids using current market costing and historical data.
• Accept responsibility for the financial and technical review of tenders, including evaluation of sub-contract and supplier quotations.
• Review tender estimates prior to formal Tender Review and report on price competitiveness.
• Compile risk and opportunity assessments, considering logistics, trade buying and market impacts on labour and material costs.
• Organise and lead tender price meetings, including preliminaries, trades, initial close and final close.
• Monitor cost plans as design evolves, obtaining engineering consultant and subcontract assessments throughout.
• Attend contract review with Senior Executives and lead project start-up meetings.
• Support the attraction and development of estimating team talent, sharing skills and expertise across the team.
• Develop strong working relationships with clients and consultants to identify future tender opportunities.
• Engage in post-tender clarifications and reviews to ensure pricing accuracy.
