Job summary

Earth & Sea Consulting in Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns is seeking a Senior or Principal Environmental Scientist for a full-time hybrid role. FIFO across Queensland may be required, with work-from-home flexibility when not in the field.

You will lead environmental design reviews, manage compliance monitoring, and deliver fieldwork, reporting on wetlands and ecological assessments, while collaborating with clients to meet regulatory objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
• Experience on major infrastructure projects and environmental assessments.

• Knowledge of state and federal environmental legislation.

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Senior or Principal Environmental Scientist, based in Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns. FIFO across Queensland may be required, with the flexibility to work from home when not in the field. The role requires experience on major infrastructure projects, design review and input into design, erosion and sediment control experience and qualifications a bonus, involving environmental impact assessments, client consultation, fieldwork, reporting on wetlands and terrestrial ecosystems, and providing science-based solutions. You will be leading and developing and managing environmental design review and strategies, compliance monitoring, and supporting project deliverables across design, construction and post-construction phases. The Senior Environmental Scientist will collaborate with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and client objectives.

Qualifications

• Expertise in Environmental Science and Environmental Impact Assessments to assess, report, and propose strategies to minimize environmental risks
• Experience in Field Work and managing projects involving wetlands and other natural ecosystems
• Proficiency in Environmental Consulting and working directly with clients to develop tailored solutions and meet compliance obligations
• Development and review of a broad range of environmental documentation (REF, EIS, EAR)
• Knowledge and proven application of state and federal environmental legislation
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Proven understanding of environmental regulations and industry standards
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field
• Experience using GIS and ecological assessment tools is a plus
