Job description

  • $150,000 – $165,000 + super + 10–15% biannual bonus.
  • Strategic Environmental Planning for Mining & Quarrying across NSW.
  • Orange or Chatswood offices. Flexible WFH arrangements.

As a Senior Environmental Planner specialising in Mining, join a highly respected NSW consultancy that has spent over 45 years advising mining and quarrying operators through some of their most complex planning and environmental challenges.

This isn't about churning out assessments. It's about providing strategic advice to clients looking to explore, expand, operate or close a site, helping navigate the approvals process and finding solutions to the challenges along the way.

With a reputation built across 1,100+ sites, the work comes through longstanding relationships and referrals rather than constant tendering.

The Role

Working with an experienced Environmental Planning leadership team, you'll take ownership of projects and provide high-level planning and approvals advice across the mining and quarrying sector.

  • Deliver Environmental Impact Assessments, Management Plans, Audits and strategic approvals advice.
  • Guide mining and quarrying clients through NSW planning and regulatory pathways.
  • Manage projects, coordinate specialist inputs and provide technical review.
  • Advise on projects from early exploration through expansion, operations and closure.
  • Work across gold, silver, metals, extractive industries and quarrying projects. Generally no coal.

The Team

A specialist NSW consultancy of around 25 professionals who genuinely enjoy solving complicated environmental problems.

They're an interesting bunch, with different backgrounds and plenty of technical experience. The culture is refreshingly straightforward, with considerable flexibility to work from home and the autonomy to manage your workload.

This appointment can sit in Orange, working alongside the team's senior leadership, or Sydney's Chatswood office.

Experience

  • 7+ years in Environmental Planning / Impact Assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of NSW mining approvals and legislation.
  • Experience managing environmental assessments and client relationships.
  • Relevant Environmental Science, Planning or related degree.

Total package circa $184,000 – $212,500.
