Job summary

Kingborough Council is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to join the Development Services team at the Civic Centre. The role focuses on assessing development applications while balancing the natural environment and hazards, with opportunities to work with residents, consultants and the community.

Ideally you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification, have experience in environmental or statutory planning, and be able to interpret legislation and planning controls.

• Experience in environmental planning or statutory planning is preferred.
• Tertiary qualification in environmental planning or related field is required or highly desirable.
• Ability to interpret legislation and planning controls with strong understanding of natural values and hazards.

About This Position

Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join its Development Services team. Kingborough is experiencing rapid growth in development in our urban, rural, and coastal environments. This position is involved in the assessment of development applications with a focus on balancing development with the natural environment and responding to natural hazards, as identified within the Planning Scheme. There are opportunities to work with residents, environmental consultants and the broader community.

Ideally, you will have experience and a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as environmental planning, natural resource management, environmental science or statutory planning. The position requires the ability to interpret legislation and statutory planning controls, an understanding of natural values and hazards, as well as strong organisational skills and communication skills.

The role is ongoing full-time with a salary range of $108,123 to $122,553 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
