Job summary

Sundstrom Recruitment is seeking a Senior Environmental Advisor to join a client's operations in Western Australia’s Goldfields region on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth. You will lead environmental compliance, monitoring, approvals, and rehabilitation while partnering with site teams to drive sustainable outcomes.

You will bring a tertiary environmental qualification and substantial mining sector experience, with strong knowledge of WA and Commonwealth legislation, monitoring programs, and risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science/Management/Natural Resource Management or related field.
• Experience in environmental advisory or senior role in mining/resources.
• Knowledge of WA and Commonwealth environmental legislation and approvals.
• Experience with monitoring, reporting, auditing, inspections, and incident management.
• Familiarity with Environmental Management Systems and risk management.
• Strong technical report-writing and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Australian driver's licence; remote site experience preferred.
• GIS and rehabilitation/closure planning experience would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert environmental advice to site leadership and teams.
• Support compliance with environmental approvals, licences and permits.
• Contribute to the Environmental Management System and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate monitoring programs across water, air, noise, soil, waste and rehabilitation.
• Prepare reports, management plans, statutory returns and stakeholder communications.
• Support approvals processes and documentation.
• Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments; drive corrective actions.
• Assist in rehabilitation, closure planning and progressive rehabilitation.
• Build relationships with regulators, consultants and contractors.
• Mentor site-based environmental personnel as required.
