Job summary

AECOM in Australia seeks a senior environmental professional to connect ecology with project approvals, guiding clients through biodiversity and regulatory challenges to deliver meaningful outcomes.

You will lead high-profile projects, mentor colleagues, and help grow AECOM’s ecology and environmental approvals practice while operating in a hybrid setup across North Queensland. Relocation assistance to Townsville is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental science or related discipline.
• Significant environmental consulting experience at senior/principal level.
• Experience in ecology and biodiversity assessment with EIA or approvals.
• Knowledge of Commonwealth and Queensland environmental and planning frameworks.
• Experience managing complex projects, multidisciplinary teams, budgets and clients.
• Strong communication, leadership and mentorship skills for proposals and business development.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental impact assessments and approval processes at State and Commonwealth levels.
• Apply ecological values and biodiversity risks to practical approval strategies.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and oversee environmental assessments and plans.
• Provide strategic advice to clients while managing scope, budgets, programs and quality.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders; contribute to proposals.
• Mentor team members and grow Ecology and Impact Assessment & Permitting practices.
