Job summary

Golden Plains Shire Council in Bannockburn, VIC, is seeking a Senior Coordinator to lead the Environment and Sustainability team in a hybrid, full-time role. You will drive climate action, environmental management and waste priorities while supporting staff and delivering community projects.

You will shape policy, secure grants, manage multiple priorities, and report to Executive and Council. A strong leader with stakeholder finesse is essential to our collaborative, community-focused

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and experience in environmental management, climate, waste and resource recovery.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams with people management, technical leadership, coaching and fostering a high performing, customer focused culture.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver policies, strategies, plans and projects.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to drive change, motivate, innovate and continuous improvement.
• Highly developed project, contract and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including preparing reports, presentations and recommendations for Executive, Council and Audit and Risk Committees.
• Strong analytical, strategic, financial and problem solving capability.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, risk management and quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to deliver Council’s environment, sustainability and waste priorities across a broad portfolio.
• Navigate strategy and operations across initiatives including policy development and grant funding.
• Shape long-term policy, influence decisions and secure funding for key projects.
• Support staff, manage priorities, respond to issues and oversee community projects and services.
• Oversee operation of the Rokewood Transfer Station (Sundays) and engage with stakeholders.
• Prepare reports and recommendations for Executive, Council and Audit and Risk Committees.
