Job summary

CPP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Secondary in Brisbane to deliver high‑voltage substation designs and lead complex secondary systems projects. You will work closely with field teams, customers and colleagues to ensure design accuracy and project success.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical excellence, and contribute to CPP’s growth in QLD while undertaking interstate travel as required. A strong HV background and Chartered status are essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent & Chartered Status (or able to achieve on commencement)
• 10+ years experience in the HV power transmission industry
• Demonstrated experience leading complex secondary systems design projects in HV electrical
• Natural leadership qualities and ability to bring out the best in others
• Based in Perth or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available)
• Experience with MiCom, Digsilent, Power Factory, PSSE will be highly regarded

Responsibilities

• Deliver timely, accurate design outputs for secondary protection and control (PAC) systems in HV projects
• Lead complex internal and external secondary system design projects and check outputs

The Opportunity

Step into a career-defining role as Senior Electrical Engineer – Secondary at CPP, where you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage substation projects that support the growth of Australia’s renewable energy and utility sectors. Reporting to the Manager, Secondary Design QLD, you will be instrumental in helping establish and grow our QLD engineering team, while providing hands‑on design expertise and leadership.

Key focus areas include:

• Responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate technical designs while supporting field staff, customers and colleagues. The successful candidate will be able to produce accurate precision designs required for secondary protection and control (PAC) systems in the high voltage utility and renewable sectors. You will lead complex internal and external secondary system design projects, and demonstrate capability of checking secondary system design outputs.
• Foster a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment to support team capability growth and play an active role in embedding CPP in our newest location
• Undertake interstate travel to offices and project sites to build strong relationships with key stakeholders – critical to long‑term integration and success.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or equivalent & Chartered Status (or the ability to achieve upon commencement)
• 10+ years experience in the HV power transmission industry
• Demonstrated experience leading complex secondary systems design projects in the HV electrical industry

• Based in Perth or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available to those interstate)
