Job summary

Defence Australia in Sydney seeks a Senior Engineer for the MWC SAR Division. Lead a small team, provide technical and scientific advice, and contribute to analysis of naval platform underwater signatures.

Engage Navy stakeholders and develop measurement systems to reduce signature vulnerabilities for fleet operations. You will apply engineering knowledge to complex problems, work with cross‑disciplinary teams, and participate in data analytics and machine learning initiatives supporting Defence

Qualifications

• Experience leading a small team of engineers.
• Ability to communicate with Navy personnel and industry.
• Experience in underwater acoustic data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team and provide technical/scientific advice to SAR Division Chief Engineer and stakeholders.
• Analyse underwater signature data and report findings to inform decision making.
• Develop and improve measurement and analysis systems for signature data.
• Engage with Navy, academia and industry to communicate results with clarity and influence.
• Travel to defence sites and work in varied environments including shipyards and on platforms.
