TLEA is inviting applications for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical activities on debottlenecking and brownfield PMR projects at our Kwinana plant. You will provide end-to-end technical input from concept through construction, ensuring safe, fit-for-purpose designs aligned with plant operability.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in mechanical engineering, strong knowledge of Australian Standards, and proven ability to coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and 10+ years in mechanical engineering roles.
• Experience in brownfield projects within resource or chemical processing industries.
• Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS1210, AS4041, ASME) and design practices.
• Experience with piping, pressure equipment, rotating equipment and layout design.
• Ability to review 3D models, drawings and deliverables, and engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and assessments for debottlenecking PMR projects including piping and equipment.
• Review datasheets, equipment specs, layouts and calculations for compliance.
• Ensure designs comply with Australian Standards and plant requirements.
• Coordinate with process, civil, structural, electrical and instrumentation teams.

• Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning and handover.

ABOUT THE POSITION

TLEA is welcoming applications for a full-time Senior Engineer Mechanical to join our team working at our Kwinana plant.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading mechanical engineering activities on debottlenecking and brownfield modification projects (PMRs) at TLK’s lithium refinery operation plant. This role provides end-to-end technical input across the project lifecycle - from concept development through to construction support - ensuring all mechanical designs are safe, fit-for-purpose, and aligned with plant operability. The position requires strong coordination with internal stakeholders, consultants, and operations teams to deliver efficient, compliant, and constructible engineering solutions.

In addition to possessing our core values of distinction, pragmatism, honesty, tenacity and innovation, this position will suit an individual with extensive prior experience as a senior mechanical engineer, ideally within Brownfield Environments and Operations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead mechanical design and technical assessments for assigned debottlenecking PMR projects, including piping, pressure equipment, rotating machinery, and mechanical packages.
• Review and approve mechanical engineering deliverables such as datasheets, equipment specifications, layout drawings, tie-in details, and calculations.
• Ensure all mechanical designs comply with relevant Australian Standards, TLK engineering practices, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline engineering teams (process, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure integrated design outcomes.
• Support procurement through preparation of technical specifications, evaluation of vendor submissions, and review of vendor documentation.
• Participate in HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and risk assessments to ensure safe and practical implementation of mechanical designs.
• Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Engage with operations and maintenance teams to ensure mechanical solutions are maintainable and aligned with site strategy.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering roles, including brownfield and project-based work in resource or chemical processing industries.
• Sound understanding of Australian Standards (e.g., AS1210, AS4041, ASME) and engineering practices relevant to process plants.
• Proven experience in pressure equipment, piping systems, rotating equipment, and layout design.
• Experience reviewing 3D models, mechanical drawings, and design deliverables.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Safety-focused mindset with an ability to balance technical integrity and practical constructability.
