Job summary

Amber seeks a Senior Risk and Trading Analyst to drive hedging, pricing and risk across Australia’s NEM markets from Melbourne. You’ll own demand and price scenario models, manage hedge positions and support trade execution within approved limits.

The role blends trading and analytics, with 5–7 years in risk, energy trading or quantitative analysis, and strong Python/R/SQL skills, plus deep NEM knowledge. Competitive salary, equity and flexible work arrangements are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or related quantitative field.
• 5–7 years' experience in risk management, energy trading, commodity risk, quantitative analysis or NEM market operations.
• Strong data analytics capability: Python or R and SQL; comfortable with large, granular datasets.

Responsibilities

• Trade electricity and environmental products, including derivatives; execute and monitor trades via ASX Energy, OTC and broker channels.
• Maintain, back-test and improve forecasting models; build data pipelines and dashboards in Python/R and Snowflake.
• Analyse load profiles and wholesale price relationships; produce load forecasts and hedging strategy assessments.
• Prepare hedge effectiveness documentation and reporting for senior management and the board; support hedge accounting where required.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Product, Marketing and Operations to align risk management with business needs.
