Job summary

Origin Energy is seeking a Senior Corporate Lawyer to join its Retail Legal team. This senior advisory role focuses on complex energy regulation, regulatory investigations and practical legal guidance to help the business make well-informed decisions.

Reporting to the General Manager of Legal and Compliance for Retail & Origin Zero Compliance, you’ll collaborate with leaders across the business on electricity and gas retailing, broadband and new customer propositions.

Qualifications

Australia-qualified lawyer with admission to practice and 8–10+ years’ post-admission experience.
Strong knowledge of energy regulation in a retail context.
Experience managing regulatory incidents and investigations with regulators such as AER or ACCC.

Responsibilities

Advise on complex energy regulatory matters for the Retail and Origin Zero businesses.
Manage regulatory incidents and investigations and engage regulators.
Provide clear, practical recommendations to support sound business decisions.
Draft and review customer contracts and communications.
Keep the business informed of legislative and regulatory changes.
Mentor junior lawyers and collaborate with external advisers.
