Job summary

A global defence SME is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for a contract in Sydney, offering a daily rate of $1000 - $1200. This role involves developing UNIX-like kernels and drivers using C for advanced aviation products. Applicants must have at least 6-7 years of relevant experience, citizenship eligibility for security clearance, and should be familiar with the full development lifecycle. Ideal candidates will also have prior experience in real-time systems for aviation.

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

This role requires eligibility for security clearance and compliance with ITAR laws, meaning only Australian citizens can be considered.

Kinexus are exclusively working with a global defence SME specialised in engineering aviation simulators and systems for defence and civilian industries. This SME is on a hot streak of project wins, including cutting-edge R&D work, with customers around the world and need an embedded software engineering contractor to support as a result.

In this role, you will be working with C to develop UNIX-like kernels and drivers for a brand new and advanced aviation product. The role will cover the full software development lifecycle and will include detailed-level design work all the way through to developing and executing Python test code.

What you will need:

• This role requires Australian citizenship due to security clearance eligibility and ITAR compliance.
• 6-7+ years' experience in low-level driver and kernel development of UNIX systems using C.
• Experience across the full development lifecycle, including detailed-level design and architecture.
• Any previous experience developing real-time systems for the aviation industry and understanding the standards and controls that come part of this is greatly appreciated.
