Job summary

Aquent is seeking a senior embedded systems engineer to own a next-generation platform powering critical infrastructure. You will lead board bring-up, define platform architecture, and build resilient systems from design through field deployment.

Key responsibilities include architecting embedded Linux solutions, integrating protocols, and mentoring junior engineers while shaping CI/CD practices for rapid, reliable releases.

Qualifications

• Expertise in embedded Linux with Yocto and U-Boot.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with board bring-up and peripheral configuration (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO).
• Knowledge of industrial/IoT protocols such as Modbus, CAN, MQTT, TCP/IP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take complete technical ownership of the embedded platform from design to deployment.
• Define platform architecture and build resilient, high-uptime systems.
• Architect embedded Linux solutions and secure OTA pipelines.
• Mentor junior team members and streamline CI/CD pipelines.

The Opportunity

Take complete technical ownership of a next-generation embedded platform powering critical infrastructure worldwide. In this role, you’ll lead board bring-up, define platform architecture, and build resilient, high-uptime systems from initial design through field deployment.

What You’ll Do:

• Architect embedded Linux solutions using Yocto, OpenEmbedded, U-Boot, and secure OTA update pipelines.
• Partner with hardware engineers on board bring-up, peripheral configuration (UART, SPI, I²C, GPIO), and driver development.
• Integrate key industrial and IoT protocols (Modbus, CAN bus, SNMP, MQTT, TCP/IP).
• Set technical standards, streamline CI/CD pipelines, and mentor junior team members.

What We’re Looking For:

• Core Tech: Embedded Linux, Yocto, U-Boot, C/C++, Python.
• Systems Expertise: Linux device model, device trees, hardware interfaces, and designing self-recovering systems.
• Bonus Points: RTOS experience, schematic reading, or background in industrial/IoT systems.
